Seriously people will do anything now days! This man adopted his girlfriend so
he could insure his
childens futures are secured. I have never seen anything so
absurd in my life. This is beyond mind
boggling to me. Adopting you girlfriend
to shield yourself from losing assests that you are being
sued for is wrong. If
you wanted to be serious about adopting someone, why not adopt a child that
has
no family, instead of adopting your "girlfriend" to protect yourself from your
own wrongdoing!
WELLINGTON, Fla. - A Florida business owner with Houston
ties has adopted his 42-year-old girlfriend, it emerged Tuesday, in a civil case
which one judge said was taking the court "into a legal twilight zone."
John
Goodman, founder of the International Polo Club Palm Beach, legally adopted
Heather Laruso Hutchins as his daughter on Oct. 13 in Miami-Dade County,
according to court documents cited by The Palm Beach Post.
The unprecedented
legal move was exposed in connection with a civil case in which Goodman, from
Wellington in Palm Beach County, is being sued for wrongful death over a Feb.
12, 2010 crash that killed 23-year-old Scott Patrick Wilson.
Attorneys for
Wilson's parents, who launched the action, allege the adoption is simply an
attempt to shield assets. The move gives Goodman's girlfriend/daughter access to
a trust fund designated for his two biological children, who both live in
Houston

Susan G. Komen will be limiting funding to Planned Parenthood for Breast Cancer screenings!
This matter hits close to home, my best friends mom went to a planned parenthood and had the breast cancer screening test done, because she could not afford to go to the doctor or hospital to have this test ran. Luckily the Planned Parenthood Clinic where she lives still offers the test and found the dime size tumor. There is know telling what would have happened to her if she would not have had that test available to her. Many women across the country have insurance, many more do not. For those that do not have the luxury of having health insurance this decision will hurt a lot of women. Some clinics will still offer the service, those being the ones that Susan G. Komen Foundation still will fund. What will happen to the women in the areas that the Planned Parenthood Clinic does not offer the screening test?

"The Susan G. Komen Foundation's reversal on its Planned Parenthood funding is a testament to the power of social media and the influence wielded by women everywhere. But the public outrage over the charity's grant-giving decisions may affect Komen for years to come.

Just three days after the breast-cancer charity, well-known for it's iconic pink ribbon symbol and its "Race for the Cure" marathons, confirmed that it would end grants to Planned Parenthood, Komen founder and CEO Nancy G. Brinker announced that her organization would once again fund breast cancer screenings at certain Planned Parenthood locations. In a statement on Friday, Brinker publicly apologized for how her organization chooses to award funding -- a move that underscored the damage done to the Komen brand.

A combination of forces led Brinker to the stunning apology. A heated debate quickly spread across the Internet, on message boards, and social media sites, and extended to Capitol Hill, where more than two dozen senators sent a letter to Brinker, a former Ambassador under President George W. Bush, urging the Komen Foundation to reverse the decision. "

Thoughts!
I am new at the whole blog concept. So this is all new to me. As I was watching the news tonight, actually was watching Nancy Grace. The stories that she covers are the most heartbreaking, unbelievable heartwrenching ever. It seems that every story that she covers is about a child that has disappeared or that the authorities have found murdered. Most of the parents are prime suspects in every story. As a parent, I have to wonder how someone could hurt their own child. How can they take the very life that they created? My son is the most important part of my life, not to say that there are not times that he can drive me crazy, but he is only a child. As a parent it is our responsibility to protect our children not hurt them.

Stressed over classes!!
Being in my third semester of college, you would think that my nerves would not still get the best of me. Is it ever going to stop! Getting all stressed out about my classes, and homework. Being thirty-five, a mom to a very ornery three year old, and a full-time college student, one would think that I have totally lost my mind. As a student, over thinking and stressing out over the easiest assignment, might seem strange to someone a lot younger than I. One of the classes that tends to completely stress me out is English, it really should not worry me so. That is what taking chances are all about. Even if the class scares you to death, the anticipation of a good outcome is always worth it.
